M'lumi Aya

Hello, and welcome to my page! :)I'm M'lumi Aya (otherwise known as VueSleepyKat). To make an excessively LONG story short, I am a content completionist that is focused on drowning myself in content in order to forget about life - for at least a little while, anyway. This page will serve as a guide for who I am as a person, who I am as a gamer, and who M'lumi is as a character.---As A Person (History):I grew up as your typical little sister tomboy that wanted to prove herself to be better than her older brothers during pretty much every single second of every single day. I'd learn their video games, study really hard in school, and just in general pick fights with them whenever I could. After they (understandably) moved out, I slowly lost my competitive drive. My competitiveness was replaced with an intense desire to chill out, relax, and have fun. My hobbies grew to be very peaceful, especially the more the rest of my life grew chaotically out of my control. I do still keep my skills sharp every now and then, but with a lot more emphasis on just enjoying the process regardless of the results.Sadly, outside of the peace of my home, my life used to be a chaotic clusterfuck and the less said about how traumatic and damaging that was for me, the better. Suffice to say, I broke a long time ago and have been healing ever since. I'm almost there now, after over a decade of progress! <3There's eight of us in this head of mine. You probably won't be able to tell any of us apart from each other, as we all share the same goal of just relaxing after a long day of work, etc. But I will hint that one of the things that is different is that many of us have different mains in FF14. Some of us love Black Mage, some of us love Scholar, some of us love Tanking, etc. At the end of the day, we play everything.Sadly, this does come with the typical memory issues of this condition of mine. If you told me something and I can't remember it, I'm sorry. But, I can promise that somebody else does remember. We each individually have a pretty excellent memory. It's just that sometimes, not all of us are around for some moments. That's about it!As A Person (Today):In general, I try to chill out and relax as best as I can. I also like helping others reach their own happiness.I'm not a very social person, but if I happen upon a conversation, I'm more than fine with chatting it up and keeping things lively. The amount that I've typed here on this page should be proof enough of that! :PI often feel awkward and misplaced, so I tend to back out whenever I feel like I'm changing the vibes for-the-worse to let things reset. Or I'll do my best to change the subject. /shrug. Depends.I was in IT for well over a decade. I loved computers, I loved programming, I loved networking, I loved data, and I loved loved loved solving problems. Unfortunately, IT is a very stressful field, and I'm inherently lazy, so after many years of working, I saved up enough money to retire and I quit for good.Nowadays I am working a small amount of hours in blue collar fields (e.g. janitorial work, etc) to minimize the bleeding of my savings while I also work towards more long-term friendly options (e.g. content creation and the like). Also, it's exercise that I literally get paid for doing, so I get to keep my body in shape and help people out directly. It's very gratifying. I'm happier now than ever before.---As A Gamer (History):My first video games used to be RPG's and FPS's. This era was from my earliest childhood memories to my early teenage years. This included games like Pokémon (generations 2, 3, and 4), Halo, Call of Duty, Borderlands, and Phantasy Star Online.I moved on to MOBA's and Sandboxes during my early teenage years. League of Legends and Minecraft are the main games that come to mind in this category.Eventually I picked up MMORPG's, and when I did, I never really looked back. I started out with Rift and eventually moved into Guild Wars 2 and Final Fantasy XIV.Nowadays, I almost exclusively play MMORPG's, but sometimes I'll revisit some of the games I used to play to do a proper nostalgia trip.As A Gamer (Today):Gameplay-wise, I like to help minimize potential frustrations by helping people by teaching them the game. I try to make sure that everyone is having fun. I have an emphasis on teamwork and covering for people who don't want to play ball. I am very anti-YPYT. Just shrug it off and have fun. FF14 is not a hard game in the slightest.I find that people tend to way over-dramatize the difficulty of certain tasks. While I do speak from a position of privilege having been a gamer my entire life (and a hardcore gamer for much of my earlier life), the fact of the matter is that approximately 90% of the "difficulty" in any given game comes from people not knowing when and where to specifically use their eyeballs to observe an element of the game.Just like how people can "hear" sounds but not really "listen", people's eyes tend to glaze over when they look at something for a certain number of seconds. They're not really seeing, they're just vaguely receiving some visual data and not really processing any of it. Suddenly everything explodes and they're left wondering what happened and why, while everyone else is shouting about how "obvious" that thing they should have apparently seen was.Once you know specifically what to look for and when, the remaining difficulty just becomes acting upon that information, which tends to need only a button press or two in FF14's case. This is why I don't view FF14 as a difficult game. Again, my background is in First Person Shooters, which has a MUCH higher emphasis on execution, to the point that seeing game elements and executing upon that information is about a 50/50 split. The Souls-like genre is another genre of games that have approximately that same split of seeing vs execution. Even other MMORPGs tend to have a much higher ratio than FF14.I don't blame people for wanting to take things easy by resting their eyes for a bit. It gives me more to do execution-wise. I play games specifically because I want to be immersed into the game. I want to let the troubles of reality fall away into the background for a little while. I want to use games as a way to relax and distract myself away from all the little things. Having fun is paramount, and everything else is secondary. <3---M'lumi Aya (Gameplay):This specific FF14 character is under the restrictions of the Free Trial. As such, I cannot respond to any /whispers and /tells, nor can I join a Free Company, nor can I trade.I can join a Linkshell, and I can receive friend requests.I am based in the Dynamis datacenter on the Marilith world.Again, it should be emphasized that I'm playing FF14 to relax. The game has lots of grind to keep me busy, and it has a very wonderful community, too.My goals with this character are simple:
- Complete every piece of content in the game
- Have FUN!
I'm always willing to accept friend requests in-game! :)
I am also in the Dynamis Discord Server if you want to chat more directly.
M'lumi Aya (Story):I don't really have things fleshed out just yet. Each of us wants to take this character of ours in a different direction. Here are some examples:
- A world where M'lumi is some kind of a nomadic Healer. Whether that be through Conjury, Arcanism, or Alchemy is undecided.
- A world where M'lumi is an adventuring Botanist. In this world, plants were her main expertise growing up in a tribe. Possible crossover with the Path of Alchemy?- A world where M'lumi is a rugged Mercenary. It is undecided what combat background M'lumi would have, but leaning towards sword and shield combat.- A world where M'lumi is a huntress. Whether that be with some form of Archery or through a more arcane art such as Thaumaturgy is undecided. In short, RP-wise, M'lumi is a blank slate at the moment. A pretty universal trait is a desire to help people, but philanthropism can only take one so far.---Thanks for reading!
